Introduction

Hello, my name is Vanessa. I'm in 11th grade and I attend Coral Springs High School. I decided to take AICE Media Studies due to my interest in film and photography. Plus, it sounded like a fun and exciting college class, we get to make our own short film, why wouldn’t I take it.
The Arts are my absolute favorite thing. I play the violin and have been in chorus for about seven years, including this year. For about three years, I have been delving into 2D art, painting and sketching. I have experience with many different mediums, like acrylic, gouache and watercolor paints, plus, having general knowledge with pencils. I have a bit of experience with photography, but not much on video making, this course will be a new adventure.
Currently, I work for a content creator, so I have experience in editing very short clips, mainly adding captions or slight effects. However, I have edited large chunks of content and have a keen eye for what should and shouldn't be used in a video to give the best effect to a viewer. I use the app CapCut, it’s not the best to edit with, however it’s simple to use and gets the job done.
My media diet is geared towards romance and quiet depressing or mysterious stories. One movie I recently watched was Forgotten, a K-Drama, it was amazing with a wild twist. Another type of show is anime, it’s a little silly, although there are some amazing shows and mangas. A Silent Voice is one of my favorites, it impacts your emotions roughly, it’s a masterpiece. A book, They Both Die at the End, was written perfectly, a very short story but it had romance with a sorrow effect to it.
Anyways back to Media Studies. I’ve always could create “movies” in my mind when I read books, I wanted to see if I could do it for real. To see if I could evoke that same emotion I felt while reading, to show others what I am seeing. Maybe if I continue with the course next year, I’ll be inspired to become an editor.
