12. Incorporating Bullying
During the research of the film, I was looking at the entire film, rather than what would be shown during the two minutes. There was a lot of research done for the bullying aspect (Slice-Of-Life), however that wouldn't have been shown during the beginning.
To make up for the lack of bullying, I have decided to add bullying. When the character messes up their painting, standing still and shocked, there will be a voiceover where people are saying hateful words to them, that will also fill in the empty sound that would have been absolutely nothing.
There should also be visuals added around the character, to add some audience appeal/ focus as introducing a character is relatively boring. From what I am imagining, it would fit with film, grey out compared to the bright sunlight behind, using different brightness to represent the pain (dark lights). However the actual edit for the flashbacks could be seen as an awful choice. Two rectangles slowly appearing and then disappearing.
I feel that if I can make the rectangles look like paint brush strokes, it would fit the aspect of the artist mood. Similar to a Blue Period frame.
I imagine the visual to be flashback of kids harassing the character in school, maybe a point where they are presenting and whispers from the classmates can be heard, the character would be in a similar deer in headlights sort of stare. The same type of scared, stress feeling would be evoked in the character again, tying into the fact that the character is like a time-bomb waiting to explode (suicide). That any little misfortune awakens their pent up frustration with everyone.
