2. The Film Ideas
This film was created from an essay prompt I wrote in English.
The actual story is much different than what the film will come out to be, however the main issues in the stories are almost similar. There is repeated moments that have led the character to feel levels of misery to the point where they don't want to live anymore. The essay involved less dynamic camera angles and locations, so I revised it to have more happening in the 2 minutes, rather than what would be sitting by a river, speaking and probably jumping in. There is also an issue where there is no quick moving rivers around.
The essay revolved around an attempt of a third arranged marriage. The main character had no aspiration to get married and had parents who weren't together anymore. They believed that they couldn't be a picture perfect family with whoever they married. The guilt and stress they had went through for years finally weighed down on them, along with the mother who had built this intense pressure. They decided to fall into a river which held some of the radiant memories of a happy family.
There is a "ghost" which represented their thoughts to the point where it was so large, the character couldn't control themselves anymore and went with whatever the ghost wanted to. It was to show what someone could be feeling and how they might not have control anymore. This could be added to the film, since they are an artist, like Paper-Mache.
Issues with the camera placement is also a concern. I imagined the camera going way out into the water, which would not be possible. Other high, slight Arial angles would be hard, as well.
My film is going to be based around a river, bullying and the hostility between the parents and the character, which they also jump into a river. The character will be an artist of all types, however painting is the focus for the story. The main character will be the only character shown during the two minute beginning due to working completely alone.
There's a lot different from the essay I created, but the general idea sticks to me personally so much that I would love to see it brought to life.
