Genre

Yo,    The genre for our film is Drama. There is a clear “fight” between the two characters, there’s definitely going to be tension. The conflict is within the person themselves, the Non-Privileged having to climb their way to an even playing field and earn their rank. While the Privilege is spreading their knowledge, they want to help others in success. The two want different goals to win, however only one can win.     There are many stories with two main people fighting, one to prove themselves and one who helps others. A series, The Queen’s Gambit, is a chess related story, we’re able to use the way they move chess in that show like we do in our film.     We had looked into action or suspense, but those two don’t fit our story. We’re not doing anything action related, other than moving pieces and our facial expressions. For suspense, we aren’t going to lead to some wild twist and the characters won’t have amazing chemistry to have real su...

Brainstorming

Hey, The first meeting with my group went incredibly well, we have a set goal and vision with can accomplish. We decided to use the colors or black and white to represent Privilege Vs Non-Privilege. The genre that made the most sense was drama.     The Privileged would get a head start on the game, as they would in real life, while after a time-skip the Non-Privileged would begin to move. The two would battle until they are on an even playing field, a stalemate. The film will have an open ending with the ending sound of a piece falling, the viewers won’t know who won.   As the editor, while we were discussing, I could see a rough idea on what the film will look like. I could see where a camera change could go, a time-skip or hearing the pieces move on the chess board. During the production, I’ll have to keep a clean record of useful clips, plus getting foley sounds of the chess board and pieces. Maybe some nature sounds like wind or birds beforehand too...

Introduction

Hello, my name is Vanessa. I'm in 11th grade and I attend Coral Springs High School. I decided to take AICE Media Studies due to my interest in film and photography. Plus, it sounded like a fun and exciting college class, we get to make our own short film, why wouldn’t I take it.    The Arts are my absolute favorite thing. I play the violin and have been in chorus for about seven years, including this year. For about three years, I have been delving into 2D art, painting and sketching. I have experience with many different mediums, like acrylic, gouache and watercolor paints, plus, having general knowledge with pencils. I have a bit of experience with photography, but not much on video making, this course will be a new adventure.     Currently, I work for a content creator, so I have experience in editing very short clips, mainly adding captions or slight effects. However, I have edited large chunks of content and have a keen eye for what sho...
